Gardeners - how do you deal with rabbits?

I know for a fact the house we're in contract for has rabbits in the yard. I saw one every time we went there for a showing, inspection, etc.

I've never had to worry about rabbits eating plants. Do you have any words of wisdom on how to deter them, or know which flowers they especially like?

Thanks. Chat Icon

They seem to love the foliage on my roses Chat Icon Chat Icon I found a deer spray at Martin Viette and it worked well (name escapes me)...though I need to re-spray b/c they are annihilating my bushes again.

One momma destroyed a patch in our front lawn...she needed a place for her babies Chat Icon So while I hate that she killed part of our lawn (it will grow back next year) I love that we have babies down there.

LOL that was easy - Deer Off!

Try cutting up Irish Spring Bar soap and tie it up on /or around the bushes and flowers. Also you may want to sprinkle cayenne powder around flower beds this will keep them out.Chat Icon

I've never had any problems with rabbits so far. We have tons of them in the yard.

Thanks ladies! I'm definitely going to try these if I have a problem.

Jessica, what kind of flowers and plants do you have? If they don't bother yours, I'll check them out for my own yard. Chat Icon

Bunnies LOVE tulips and crotcoses (spelling is horrible I know). My Mom recommended for me to plant daffodils around these bulbs and I should be okay.

Although I'm not that crazy about daffodils, that's the reason why I'm considering them. Chat Icon

I was reading that the seeds of the sweet gum tree are good too, for lining the bed. I thought, who the heck has a sweet gum tree? Then I saw the picture and realized that I crush them under the tires of my car every Tuesday night when I go through my parent's community. I have to pull over and pick these things up now! They look like little porcupines.

I don't have trouble with bunnies here, but burying chicken wire fencing 6-10" is the best solution.
