Duvet question
I know what one is, but what the heck do you put in it? Where do you get it? I got one once and couldnt figure out how to use it.
There are some really nice ones on clearance on the spiegel website, but I dont know how to "use" one. Help
TIA

Re: Duvet question
A duvet cover normally covers a down comforter. You can get some amazing deals on both the duvet and the down comforter around the holidays. If my down comfoerter is at the dry cleaners then I just put a quilt inside of the duvet. FM if you have anymore questions

Re: Duvet question
A duvet is typically a down-filled comforter (though I use a regular comforter) and you slip it into a duvet cover (typically something decorative to protect -cover- the duvet).
It's just something to add to your bed - what's great about it is that you can buy a plain duvet and change out the duvet covers as the seasons (or your tastes) change.

Re: Duvet question
Like the others said, it covers a down comforter or even a regular comforter if you don't like the pattern anymore. You slide the comforter in (there are usually buttons on the bottom of the duvet) and then close it up. The comforter generally stays in place inside the duvet, but I have found it easier to use safety pins on the inside to stop it from sliding and make it easier for me to make our bed.

thanks for mentioning the slippage factor. This is the trouble I had. You use ordinary safety pins??? Or do you get big diaper like pins?

Just the ordinary ones...make sure you pin them on the inside though.

Re: Duvet question
I highly recommend getting your down comforter through Overstock. You can get a really high quality own for such a reasonable price (I know I sound like I work for them, but I just am a frequent bedding purchaser!)

Re: Duvet question
I bought my first duvet around 2 years ago and I hate it. Maybe my comforter inside isn't plush enough but it never stays in place and never looks really neat.

That was the problem I had.
OK second question:
If I am allergic to feathers, that means I am allergic to down right?

Re: Duvet question
You can get primaloft - that's what I have b/c I'm allergic to feathers as well. It's a hypoallergic alternative to down.
Something like this Down Alternative

You can buy these clips for about $6 at BBB or LnT. They hold the comforter in place.

Also, I am a HUGE fan of Overstock.com. I have bought so many bedding items from them!
