Re: HI---I'm New to the Boards

Believe me--I would go right now, but they wouldn't give me an earlier appt...something about wanting me to be further along so they can see more on the sonogram... I don't know-- is that not the normal thing? Should I be looking for another doctor?

As for prenatal vitamins, they said I wouldn't start them until about 8-10 weeks...until then my normal vitamins would be fine.

What has everyone else experienced?

Re: HI---I'm New to the Boards

I took a home preg. test on a sat and got into that doctor that tues. and it was a new ob/gyn. The first apt. they took a preg. test confirmed the preg. and then started my vitamins. I found out i was preg. pretty early. I dont really know if there are any rules, but i would think you want the mommy to start the vitamins as soon as possible.

Congrats and welcome to the board! Don't worry about your vitamins or the appointment. You're actually lucky to get an appointment that fast. A lot of girls on here have to wait until 8 weeks to have their first appointment.

For now just make sure you're taking a multivitamin and you'll be fine. I'm almost twelve weeks and I still can't take my prenatals. They just make my morning sickness worse. I take a chewable multivitamin and an extra folic acid and my doctor said that's fine.

Hope its a happy healthy nine months for you!

Hi and congrats. I think most drs. have you wait a few weeks before coming in for the first appointment. I know my did and many others on here mentioned it as well.

Happy and healthy 9 months!

My dr had us wait 2 weeks too, it's normal. I was on prenatals though for a few months already. Are you taking vitamins?

It is perfectly normal for a doctor not to see a new preggo til 8-10 weeks. My doctor told me that unless you have m/c a regular old HPT is fine. And they never even did a blood test with me, just a pee test.

Congrats to the OP!

DS was my first (and probably only pregnancy) but I just wanted to say something so the newest preggos don't get nervous that the dr hasn't seen them yetChat Icon
