Update on me
So, I went to see the doctor this morning for blood and sonogram. Even after lowering my dosage of Gonal-F on Thursday, I had 9 follicles 18mm+. Too many
I still have to do the HCG shot tonight, but no BDing...the risk of high order multiples is too great and its dangerous to try this cycle. So 12 days of shots for nothing.
He told me that it looks like our only option is going to be IVF. Either I don't respond to the meds at all or I respond too well, even on a low stim dosage. I am so, so upset right now. I told him my insurance doesn't cover IVF and we don't qualify for the NY state grant. He said he'd talk to the financial department and see what he could do but I know we'll still have to be out of pocket $$$$$. Unfortunately that puts us on hiatus for a few months while we save up for this - right now all our money is tied up as we are in the process of buying a business.
To top it all off we got a $115 ticket while we were in the office for parking in a commercial zone, and DH had absolutely the wrong reaction when he saw how upset I was so that made it even worse. He apologized but I am still mad and upset.
I am just so disappointed in myself which I know might sound weird since I can't control it but that's how I feel right now. So, I'm off to some retail therapy (shoe shopping - can't shop for clothes since the meds have me so bloated right now) and a mani/pedi which I hope will cheer me up a bit. Thanks for reading and good luck to all of us.

Re: Update on me
I would get a secind opinion. If you start off with low dose then maybe you would make less.
If you do do IVF it sounds like you will have lots of follies and great odds.

Re: Update on me
Sorry Carolyn. I got your FM. Dont get discouraged. Its going to take time. It sucks, I know. But it will work. Save up the money. Im sure you guys came make it work. John is just probably stressed out as much as you with what happened to Roxy and now this. I guess him being a jerk is the way he is dealing with this.
IVF works for most. Patrick's friend did it and now they have a baby boy. Its just gonna take some time, but it will happen.
Here are some for it working real soon and here is some baby dust

Re: Update on me
I know how you feel...I had a few cancelled IUI cycles because of too many follicles. You should talk to them about changing your meds - I don't know who you are seeing now, but I know my first RE changed dosages daily and monitored me daily...I went through 10 IUI cycles with them and two were cancelled due to excess follicles. Your other option is IVF - which gives you much higher chances of getting PG. Plus the fact that you are a good responder means you would get frozen embies and would be able to do frozen transfers which are almost non-invasive.
Good luck to you....Take your time and decide what you really want to do. And sorry about the ticket

Re: Update on me
Thank you all for your thoughts, kind words and FMs...the support I have gotten here means so much to me!
DH and I are meeting with the doctor on Wednesday to discuss our options. On Saturday he did say I'd be a great candidate for IVF since I am a good responder and that I'd almost definitely have extra embies to freeze. We didn't really discuss lowering the dosage, changing meds, etc. then but we will on Weds. - he wanted to talk with the other doctors in the group and see if they all could come up with other ideas for me besides IVF. But he did say that although its not common, he has seen women with PCOS that have "too good" of a response even on a low dosage...other than the 9 big follies I had, there were also about 10 other smaller ones that I could count and my E2 level was 2342...
Honestly, I've accepted the fact that IVF is probably the best plan for us. The question of when will ultimately come down to finances and when we will be able to free up the money. I'm going to talk to their financial department on Monday and see what they say. If it turns out that we have to wait a few months until we have the money, then we will definitely ask to stay on the injectibles for the time being and play with the dosage since my insurance covers the injectibles.
Again, thanks to everyone!
