I am on Met for PCOS. Your doc just prescribed it without explaining it to you? I take 1500 mg a day. Been on it for three months but have not ovulated yet.

Re: has anyone ever been on
I was on Metformin b/c I had Luteal phase deficiency. I took it until I think I was 12 weeks pregnant.
It can be tough on the stomach if you eat something high in fat.
For the 1st wek the Dr prescribed 1 pill a day- 2nd week 2 pills a day and 3 rd week 3 pills a day. ETA- good luck to you

Re: has anyone ever been on
I was on Met for pcos. I am now 22weeks pregnant. As pp have said you will have to adjust your diet. Check the pcos posts form a coupld days ago. I put in a link to the metformin manifesto. I found it on ff a while back and it really answers a lot of questions. Good luck

Re: has anyone ever been on
Thanks ladies.. i went to my ob .. for ttc issues who then sent me for an internal sono then for blood work.. sono was ok, bloodwork showed high prolactin level so he wanted to send me straight to invitro.. i didnt like that so i took it upon my own to go to an endo dr. who sent me for even more blood work, and thyroid sono.. however this time my prolactin was fine, he he just gave me the metformin and said take it with dinner.. no other instructions...

I think you should call your dr. and ask why you were placed on the met. Its important to know what you are taking and why. Met can do a number on you, like the others have described, I wouldn't want to take it unless i knew why.

While it's great you are taking matters into your own hands, is the endo an RE, or just a regular endo??? If he/she is just regular I would go to RE. If he/she is an RE I would call and ask to speak to him/her and ask as many questions as you can possibly think of.
