Simple.

When you start watching shows in hi-definition.... everything else starts to look like @ss. There is no comparison.

Re: Hi Def TV

We bought one (a Samsung) and my DH decided to return it. All the people looked short LOL and I don't know....it was weird. We didn't like it.

I just dont see the need for an HD TV until the programming catches up.

That's my opinion as well. We bought a flat screen a few years ago and opted against the HD b/c of that. We figured by the time we were in the market for another TV the programming would catch up and we'd (possibly) go for the HD.

Agreed!

I find the only draw back is the limited number of programming available in HD, but it is growing.

We are HUGE fans of Tivo and until we got HD never ever watched a commercial, but now we'll deal with the commercials to be able to watch HD.

Anyone see the HD Easter Egg in "My name is Earl"?

We have the Smasung DLP and I'll agree that the hi-def pictures look amazing (especially football but dont you dare tell my DH I said that) -- but there are not enough programs available in hi def yet. It annoys me that we have a 63 inch screen but 75% of the programs we watch arent HD compatible and we have these stupid lines on the sides of the picture. Or the top and bottom of the picture are cut off. I just dont see the need for an HD TV until the programming catches up.

Thats interesting because practically every show on prime time TV is in Hi-Definition.

Now if you watch crap on MTV and such... no you won't get Hi-Def.

But if you watch shows like Law and Order, CSI, ER, stuff on primetime... its all in hi-def.

Plus a lot of the sports is in hi-def too.

With Cablevision Hi-Def.... you can not only watch the Knicks and Rangers home games in Hi-Def... but I think you can also select what camera angle you want to watch it in. I haven't seen this for myself... but I heard its real cool.

This is something called the MSG Game Director. This is only for home games for the Mets, Knicks and Rangers. Though the home game is in HD, the game director channels are not in high-def. There feed is from the 'regular' MSG channel.

We've had an HDTV for about a year and love it.

I have to admit that I was against buying it when we moved into the house, but now I love it! The pic is so much better than regular TV.

'Nuff said!

I thought there was a big difference between cable and satellite.....throw in Hi Def tv (not even the hi def receiver--and WOW). A friend just got the Hi Def receiver from Directv.....and I was mesmerized!! The pic quality is AMAZING!

I agree too. I did not think I would love it or care but it is a huge difference! Sports are incredible - it is so hard to watch the ball game not in high def now. But even something dumb like Survivor - I can't watch on regular programming now.

The tv's have different settings - you have to play with to get it all right - sometimes our people look stretched or wide if our settings get changed by accident (like when a baby plays with a remote control - lol).
