Hospital Bag - for those who delivered their precious ones
What exactly did you end up using from your hospital bag and not use?
Friends are making fun of me because I want to bring a hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner, own bath towels...
They said that I will no way even think about taking a shower after having a baby and that they probably wont allow me to either.
Did you guys take showers?

So funny because I brought SO much stuff I never even looked at like a book, Ipod, a deck of cards, snacks for after birth. You will want socks, undies, soap, shampoo, and other toiletries. I loved being in my own PJ's instead of the hospital gown.

when i had my first, i delivered vaginally, as soon as hey said i was ok to ake a shower, i did! It def. makes you feel human again! I put on my own pj's and was walking around, it def. made me feel better! Plus a positive strong atitude makes a huge difference too i think! You'll want to do whatever you set your mind to!

I ended up bringing too much stuff...Yes, they will let you take a shower if you have a vaginally delivery. Bring toiletires, socks, slippers, flip flops (for shower) pj's, a couple of magazines (if you get the rare opportunity to actually read), snacks, something for the baby to wear home and something for you to wear home.

When we went to our lamaze/child prep class at the hospital, they recommend bringing 2 bags! One bag for the L&D essentials and the other with more stuff for when you are in your room. Did anyone do that?

Personally I think that is a bit too much. I was in the hospital for an entire day being induced and I couldn't even get out of bed and I didn't want anything but the tv and someone to talk to. I couldn't focus on magazines or books, etc.
And in the room I barely used anything. I would recommend bringing a robe if you have one and comfy clothes, slippers or flip flops and chapstick, but that's really it. Everything else they give you.

I did not take a shower at the hospital since between learning to BF and the 1000 guests, I really did not have time....and frankly, it seemed like a lot of work. Looking back, I think I should have done it and it would have made me feel better

Re: Hospital Bag - for those who delivered their precious ones
I brought a hairdryer and shampoo and I definitely used them. I also had a c/s and it was very difficult to shower, but they sort of "make" you anyway. Also, with a c/s you're most likely in the hosptial for 4 nights--I would have felt gross without that stuff. I think I used all of the stuff I brought, but then again, I didn't bring a ton.
You could also have your DH bring stuff later on if you think you need it. He brought my magazines this last time and thankfully he did...not so many visitors the 2nd time around!

Re: Hospital Bag - for those who delivered their precious ones
I showered as soon as they would let me, which was the day after I delivered. I just used the stuff at the hospital, I brought my own body and face lotions. I had my hair up the whole time so I didnt use a hair dryer. The one thing I couldn't have lived without was my pillow!!!!

Re: Hospital Bag - for those who delivered their precious ones
From the long list everybody uses, I only used the following
- robe - slippers - shampoo, soap, moisterizer (travel size) - flip flops for shower - hair ties - nursing bras/tanks
I had a c-section and could barely move so I could not lift my legs to put pants on as planned. I used the hospital gowns for the 1st 2-3 days, disposible panties and pads at the beginning then switched to mine.
Do get grandma panties if you plan or wll end up with a c-section. Mine would hit the scar.

Re: Hospital Bag - for those who delivered their precious ones
I finally packed mine, since being 39 weeks friday thought it was time lol.. My DH bought me a travel bag with shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, paste etc. I definatly plan on showering. Bring flip flops though.. i was in the hospital 2 weeks ago for renal colic and i had to share the bathroom and its kinda yucky, blood and stuff in the shower, since your sharing with others who just gave birth too.
