Overstimming question

I've done 3 days on 100iu of Gonal F - had my first sono and bloodwork this morning after starting the injections. I had around 15-20 very small follies going - the Dr. said the size was fine considering I've only been on it for three days, but he is concerned about overstimming since there are so many. They are making me come in on Sunday for another sono and bloodwork and may decrease the dosage. He wants me in at least every other day, possibly everyday for monitoring.

What will happen if there's too many? Will they just put me back on Provera and start over? Does this mean that our only option is going to be IVF since I can't get the right size/number of follies with drugs alone? Why can't my body just be normal???

Re: Overstimming question

They will either cancel your cycle (I've had it done) or suggest IVF if you have too many.
BUT - some may or may not grow more which is why they are monitoring you so closely.
If you can afford it, I would suggest the IVF also because you can freeze the embryos that they don't transfer and then they don't have to stimulate you for a few cycles.

And don't feel bad, this is the classic symptom of PCOS - it's very easy for us to hyperstim.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Overstimming question

Thanks Gerty...if absolutely necessary we could afford IVF but my insurance covers everything else...we were obviously hoping it wouldn't come to that. But we'll see what happens on Sunday. Thanks for responding!

Re: Overstimming question

The Dr. can also reduce your medication a bit. When I was hyperstimming dr. Chang reduced my meds and just watched me really closely.
