Regarding gifts, who do YOU and DH give to?

Just wondering if what we do is pretty standard. I love shopping for gifts and getting people something they love. We always go all out on our moms, dads, sisters, brother, etc....but for the rest of the family, we've been into sending baskets. I mean, if i were rich, I'd buy something for every cousin and so forth, but with huge families it gets nuts and this seems to be a nice solution. We also send them to grandparents. Wine Country Gift Baskets is awesome for this...(sorry/holiday talk!) We also tend to shop for our close couple friends; I love to give gift cards to restaurants....

Due to the size of our families, we just get gifts for my brothers and their wives, my parents, and then for his family, we get the parents gifts and his brother and his now fiancee. That's it. We sent holiday cards to the rest of the family.

The kids come first. His daughter and my neice and nephew, his neice we send $$ (she's a teenager).

Then my mom and grandparents. Tho my grandparents have enough "stuff" so we like to get them GCs, one year we took them to a B-way show.

After that my brother and SIL, and aunts and uncles who we normally get "couple" gifts for. Our cousins normally get GCs too, let them pick out what they want.

we give b-day, mothers/fathers day gifts to our parents. that's about it though.

I get my sisters gifts & cards, but not for his 2 brothers. DH told me that they have never exchanged.

or maybe I am still thinking like a single person and should just get them both something

for Christmas & Hanukkah we give gifts to a LOT of people!!!!!!!

Hardly anybody anymore. Everyone decided we have too much stuff.

For Christmas we buy small gifts for:

my parents
my brother
my two teenage cousins
my boss & 1 coworker
a close friend's baby

my whole family chips in for a gift for my grandparents

We take DH's parents out for dinner ( their preference)

his family chips in for a gift for his grandfather

Last year DH & I didn't even exchange gifts.

For birthdays just our parents & my brother & 1st birthdays only for friend's babies.

This year, we didn't do birthday gifts for each other either.

Parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents, and then with my dad's side we do a secret santa (which I HATE).

We buy for all the kids and our siblings want to only buy for the kids, but I hate this. I love buying people gifts and opening gifts on Xmas and I hate that because I have kids I don't get any.

We don't do many gifts.

We give gift cards to our parents (most of the time) for their birthdays and anniversaries.

For Christmas, we usually buy gifts for my parents and give his parents cash (not a fan, but that's what they do in his family).

Of course, we all buy for the kids at Christmas. They are all young and enjoy it still.

Birthdays for siblings - no gifts. We haven't bought gifts for eachother in many years.

Aunts, uncles and cousins - no gifts either.

Grandparents - none, they've all passed away.

Right now there are no kids on my side, but several on DH's side. So for the holidays, we buy for:

1. my parents
2. his parents
3. my siblings
4. his siblings' kids
5. a family gift to his aunt/uncle/cousins who've treated us like immediate family,
6. and a little something for each of our living grandparents, who always insist they don't need anything.

For birthdays in my immediate family/grandparents, we do a card and a small gift. His family says "happy birthday" and considers that sufficient!

-my brother and SIL and their 2 kids
-2 of my 1st cousins
-my best friend, michele

-dh's grandparents on his father's side get xmas gifts from us, but not bday - we just send cards for their bdays

mother's day and father's day - both sets of parents get gifts
my sister, SIL, brother and grandparents just get cards

On my DH's side, just the kids - for birthdays and Christmas.

On my side, the kids get bday and holiday. My Mom gets bday & holiday. The other adults get bday only.

I also shop for lots of kids outside the family - our friends children and friends of my kids.

Not many adults really... once in awhile for a special occasion - milestone bday or anniversary party but usually not for adults.

On his side, his parents, his brother/wife, and our niece.

On my side, my parents and step parents, my grandfather, my great aunt, my aunt and cousins in Cali.

Our 3 closest friends.

My 2 little cousins (under age 18)
All the other cousins (over age 18) and aunts and uncles do a secret santa, so two more gifts there (1 from DH, 1 from me).

HIS SIDE:
His Parents
All of the nieces and nephews- 6 of them
DH and his brothers and sisters (and BILS and SILS) do a secret santa, so two more gifts there (1 from DH, 1 from me).

Then I also do:
Boss
Work Secret Santa
Friends Secret Santa
Small presents for all of the kids and babies I know - like friend's kids or neighbors baby
NY cares gifts

we don't buy gifts for any cousins or other extended family, on either side. its way too much.

The list just keeps getting longer. I tried to talk my mom's family into doing a secret santa this year being we are all older but the baby's (twins in college and cousin out of college) still want to collect their gifts

ETA: I also 'adopt" a family from my church for christmas and buy them gifts and buy their christmas dinner.
