About NY-Alert
Welcome to the New York State All-Hazards Alert and Notification web-based portal.
This website contains critical emergency-related information, public instructions, and life-safety public information. Concurrent with the posting to this website, that same information will be disseminated through redundant technological avenues.
It is part of New York States ongoing commitment to provide New Yorkers with information so that they will understand risks and threats they may face on a daily basis and know how to respond accordingly.
The information posted here will include severe weather warnings, significant highway closures, other emergency conditions, state response actions, and protective actions that are recommended by State and local authorities.
You can have alerts sent to your email, pager, text message, phone numbers etc. i just signed up, so I'll see how good this is. It's free, official, and it's only as intrusive as I let it, so I figure it looks like a good idea.
