I think Sammy is Allergic to Merrick
I was giving my doggie a food called Vet's Choice Holistic Health Extension for like a year. It's supposedly good, but there didn't seem to be too much on it so with all this food recall thing I got scared and I switched him to Merrick like 2 months ago. Well Sammy won't stop sratching his head and face. Took him to the vet thinking it was ear infections and they said his ears were clear. 2 weeks ago I stopped the dry food and have only been giving him the canned food. Still itching.  I'm giving him rice and chicken for a couple of days.

Could definitely be an allergy. Have you looked at the list of ingredients to see if something is there that isn't in the original food you were giving him?
