For those of us who...
USED to live on LI:
Where do you live now?
WHen did you leave?
Would you ever go back?
Do you have any family still on LI?
We now live 30 miles south of Boston
We moved in June of this year
I would only go back if housing prices dropped significantly..
My parents are still on LI, but they are moving to Cape Cod..

Yes, plan on it someday when we buy a house.

Would you ever go back? no, not because i wouldn't want to. but dh and i both have jobs in nj...if anything my job will transfer us to charlotte, nc

I left LI and came back...
I moved to NYC in 1997, then San Francisco in 1999. Moved back to LI in 2004.
All of my family, and most of Al's is on on LI - thats why we came back.

I live in Charlotte, NC now
We moved here in June of 2004 (dh and I - he was my boyfriend then)
I will never move back to LI (too expensive)
My sister and Bil as well as my dad, stepmom and little brother and sister are still in long island as well as a bunch of friends

We live in Pembroke. It's on the east coast- smack inbetween the Cape and Boston..

I left in 1998. I lived in Buffalo, NY for 4 years while attending school there and have lived in Manhattan for the past 5 years.
Would you ever go back?
Probably not. If DH and I decide to move, we will leave the NY Metro area.
Do you have any family still on LI?
Yes, my parents and most of my family are still on LI. However, my parents don't plan to stay there for too much longer, so there is even less of an incentive for me to move back.

1997. Went to school in Boston until 2001, then moved to NJ and lived there until May 2007.

Probably not. I love it, but DH is from PA and CT is a better middle-ground for us.
Do you have any family still on LI?
Yes, my parents and most of my family and some friends are still on LI. However, my parents don't plan to stay there for too much longer, so there is even less of an incentive for me to move back.

I was born and raised in Smithtown.
I went to college in CT, came home 1 1/2 summers and then stayed in CT. Met my DH in college, graduated- got a teaching job- moved in with DH and got married- Have been here for many years now...about 6 years...
Would I go back to LI??? Nope not to live- there would have to be some REALLY good reason for me to move back and I don't forsee that ever happening. LI was a great place to grow up, but it is not what it used to be...it is way too expensive (CT is still $$, but not nearly what LI is)
I go back to visit every so often but will more once my parents are back there
I have extended family on LI cousins and aunts and uncles...and friends- and my parents are temporarily in CT, but will be moving back to LI within the year- but they will also be buying something in Florida and I think eventually they will spend more time down south...especially since DH and I hope to buy down south eventually too- Not FLorida- but maybe GEorgia or South Carolina...

Last November
to visit but never to live
Both of our families still live in LI
We have no family here and that is sad but our life is so much better since we moved. We owned a home on LI and we were doing fine but our quality of life since moving has greatly improved.
