How many of you.....
Miscarried before getting pregnant?
My office-mate is INSISTANT that 1 out of every 2 first pregnancies end in miscarriage.
Is she off her rocker? Or is this true?

Re: How many of you.....
My doctor did say the rate is really high like that, but he said that most are so early that the woman had no idea she was pregnant and just assumed it was a regular period.

Re: How many of you.....
I did not. But once I got pregnant, I ws amazed at how many people I talked to would tell me about having had a miscarriage. My mom had me, then had 2 miscarriages, then had my brother.

Re: How many of you.....
I've read that 20% of pregnancies end in miscarriage. I don't think the number is as high as 1 in 2 - at least I hope not.

Re: How many of you.....
I've read that there are some miscarriages that occur very early, and people are not even aware of them.
I think I may have read that 1/4 or 1/5 pregnancies end in miscarriage, though that may not even be accurate. 1 out of 2 sounds very high to me!

I was suprised too about how many people I knew that miscarried. I never realized it was so common.

I was told the same thing! As technology improves and women test earlier and earlier, many are experiencing miscarriages, whereas in the past they would have just chalked it up to a late or heavy period.
I m/c'd in November, got pregnant again in February, and am due with a in 70 days.

Re: How many of you.....
I miscarried my first pregnancy and working on #2. My doctor said 1 out of 4 or 5 pregnancies end in miscarriage... a horrible statistic.

I have heard very similar stats. It didn't happen to me, though.

I had an early m/c before this pregnancy. It is fairly common.
