Has anybody ordered a sofa set from them? How is their quality?

We ordered a bedroom set from them about a month ago and their customer service and delivery has been a complete nightmare. They messed up the delivery, we ended up having to cancel the order per theri own suggestion, and 3 weeks later they STILL have not refunded us the money. I dont really know if I would recommend them to anyone.....their customer service is horrible.

Our sectional was custom, so that took longer. We received that on Aug 18.
I also ordered a custom slip covered couch online. That took about 4 weeks.

we also ordered a bedroom set from them as well... it was a NIGHTMARE! I tihnk i posted the story on here or LIW.... the delivery man ran away from me... we got left with damaged furniture, got double charged... it was horrible! nails were still stuck into the bottom of the furniture and scratched our floors up...

I also recently ordered a kitchen table and 6 chairs from JCP. I had no problems with delivery and I honestly thought the quality was AMAZING for the price.
I am very happy with it.
The only annoying thing was, I had a lot of JCP gift cards I wanted to use towards my purchase (thru credit card points). However, when I placed the order, they told me that I was limited to two gift cards per transaction. 
Now I have to go to the store and pay down my bill in person with the gift card.

I think you should research the brand. They carry alot of different ones just like most other furniture stores.

we got our sectional couch and whole bedroom set ( including mattress and box spring) from them a little over 2 years ago. we were very happy with the whole process, and so far they are holding up really well! ( pics in my albums).
we had no problems with their service- everything was delivered on time. we had a problem with the mattress set though. being that it was a pillow top mattress, a regular box spring with it made the bed waaay too high ( i could barely get into it!) we called them and they explained to us that it happens a lot and that there is a 1/2 height box spring we could get instead. a couple days later, they came out with the new box spring, switched it out and everything was great! i would recommend them!

We ordered our leather LR furntiture from them. We are very pleased with it. Very durable/comfy, very affordable, very nice.
Though cjb is right there were some nails in the bottom and I didn't realize and scrached my floor a bit, not bad though.
My delivery guys were great and the furniture came in less than one week.

I have a great red sofa from them that is now 5.5 years old - still looks and feels like new and people ask all the time where I purchased it.

We bought our couch & a chair and ottoman for the LR there 3 years ago and they are in great shape. We also just bought our hutch and DR chairs from them and they are great quality. We never had any problems with the delivery (and we had to send something back and they didn't give us a problem about it).

Depends...buying for the store & from online/catalog are two different places even though they BOTH carry the JCPenney name.
We bought our bedroom set from the store. We LOVE it! Delivery was a breeze - one peice was damaged, so the guys brought another one the following week. The quality is superb! I was just commenting the other day to DH how I LOVE the cedar bottom drawers!
Our set was extrememly affordable & we even got free shipping. We bought our set during the President's day sale last year.
Oh, & when you buy from the store - delivery is in your room - not at the door step like catalog. Plus, it comes together - doesn't need to be assembled either.

We actually just realized that JCPenny charged our credit card again for the same order that they were suppose to reinburse us for over 3 WEEKS ago. I wouldnt recommend them to anyone. Its a headache and they have terrible customer service. Ordering through them has been the biggest mistake....

My discovery...although their prices are great, they charge you close to $200 for delivery AND you have to wait appx. 4 weeks (at least for the product that we were interested in). We opted to skip JCP...
