Jack & the Woods
jack has this new thing with bolting into the woods near the house. he has done it 2x's this week and not sure why he saw a rabbit about 3 weeks ago, could that be it and then when he does come back, he STINKS !!! we are thinking jack must be going thru a landfill or there is a dead 'something' out there, but we have to hose him down. he has had 3 baths since sunday
any other thoughts on his behaviour? his eating not changed, he is walked & played with etc.
we are looking into classes for him really soon.

Re: Jack & the Woods
Katie loves to roll in stinky things so does Annie. Appparently this is how they disguise their scent so they can sneak up on their prey.

What kind of leash do you have him on?
Casey pulls me sometimes and she is 85lbs - I have a harness and a leash on her - maybe that would help?

Re: Jack & the Woods
There is something dead in there...that's why he keeps running to it. Misty has done that in the woods by us, she finds something dead and is obsessed with it when we go through. She has rolled in dead stuff a couple times - it's gross, but like the OP said, it disguises their smell for hunting.
The only thing you can do is try to hold onto his leash or follow him in and get rid of the dead thing

Re: Jack & the Woods
Jack thought he saw his auntie out there and made a break for it! Alas, he discovered I was not there. So he figured, I'm already out here, I'm already in trouble, might as well have me some fun.
