So, I probably shouldn't be, but I'm so annoyed
OK, so I know that I probably shouldn't be annoyed, since I have no kids to take Trick-or-treating, but earlier, I heard my boss tell the two people in my office who do have kids, that if they have something they want to do with their kids for Halloween, they can take off early. Now, I'm probably just being childish, but I'd like to go home early too. Just b/c I haven't procreated, it doesn't seem fair that they can just go if they want and I'm stuck here. I actually would like to see the little ones who come to the door, but since I won't get home till after it's dark, there probably won't be many. Of course, honestly, I would just like to leave, but still.
Anyway, I just wanted to vent!

That would annoy me too. It's one thing if they asked to leave early for trick or treating but to selectively let some people leave early 'just because' is not fair.

OMG - that's so funny b/c that was exactly what I thinking about when I heard my boss tell them. I don't work with any smokers now, but when I used to, it drove me crazy.

I use to work with a lot of smokers, and they would take many cig breaks. It annoyed me, so I started to go outside just as often for "fresh air" breaks!

I don't think so - at least he didn't mention it, so I would assume not.
Actually, the one woman told him no, she isn't doing anything. I totally would have gone anyway!

i wouldn't be jealous of people who would like to leave early to see their kids off for halloween. one day it could be you asking to leave early!

No, I totally wouldn't be annoyed if they asked to leave early. He just told them they could out of the blue. I think he should have just let us all leave (really, I'm the only one since the one other guy is a prtner and I presume he can go whenever he wants anyway.)
And yeah, he does sometimes tell us all we are closing early (mostly during the summer) but it's like, Everybody else can, but I can't. Oh well. It's not like I'm obvioulsy killing myself here with work But still, I'd rather be doing this at home!

I have to be honest and say that I would not be annoyed. Its great that these parents will be able to take their kids around and safely trick or treat. Think about how happy their kids will be when they see that Mommy is home early to go trick or treating with them. And just think how happy you will be one day when you can take your kids trick or treating.

I know what you mean about the mommy perks because my admin asked to leave early on Halloween 2 weeks ago. I told her she could. I take every Halloween off since I've started the company. I consider it my day, so it's not an issue with me.
