When to start looking
I am getting married in December and we would like to buy a house with our wedding money. When should we start looking?

Re: When to start looking
It will probably take you a few months to find the perfect house - and then it takes about 3 months to close once you find the house. We started looking last December, found our house close to Feb. and closed on April 8th.

Re: When to start looking
Oh wow, I didn't realize it was such a long process. This is obviously all new to me.
Its hard because we just moved to Florida for a job and are going to move back to Long Island with my fingers crossed that I find a job up there since I had no luck last summer.
Mom is willing to take us both in temporarily until we find something.
I know its going to be hard to find an apartment with 2 dogs, so we would rather just find a house.

Re: When to start looking
It doesn't always take so long.... If you have your financing in order and the seller is ready then it can be done faster. We started looking in late Nov and put a contact on a house in early Jan. We closed on Feb 14th and had the keys that day. I guess we got lucky bc the house we bought was a rehab and we didn't have to wait for someone to move out.

I would look around now to get an idea of what's out there.

Re: When to start looking
Well I've been looking on MLSLI and I found so many houses that are in the price range I am looking for and that are decent. However we can't do anything yet...
