Anyone Ever Use Rent Direct for an apartment?
craigs list is not working out so far the one apartment I am dying to see- the guy doesn't answer his phone or messages since I spoke to him on saturday
I refuse to pay a broker b/c I paid one so much money to move into my current place- 1.5 months rent- and we hated it since day 3
and you have to pay $195 for 60 days of listings- and I am not sure if it's worth it
anyone ever use this?

I haven't used Rent Direct before, but I have heard that a lot of these services aren't really worth it. They do give you listings, but they are often out-of-date.
Where are you looking to rent? If it's in the city, try Village Voice and NY Times online. If it's Queens or LI, Newsday. Also, for my last apartment, I walked around the neighborhood I wanted to live in, picked apt. buildings that I liked from the outside, and wrote down their management company names, usually posted in the lobby. That was in the city also, but you could probably try something like that on Long Island too if you know where buildings are located that you might want to live in.
Craig's List didn't work for me either.
