Stables on LI
I'm looking to start up horseback riding this fall but I don't know where to start looking. I rode during college and right after and I stopped because I didn't have time while teaching and getting my Masters. The place I used to go to in the Patchogue/Medford area has since closed. Any suggestions? I'd be coming from Sayville.

I could have written this exact question! I think it may be the upcoming fall weather that makes all former equestrians long to ride again. Today I passed a place in Islandia and thought, "I would love to start riding again..."
I look forward to any responses b/c I am near this area too.

Oh my gosh, me too! I haven't gone riding in YEARS, but my brother and I are looking into this right now. He's calling a stable in Northport, Stony Hill I think. I'll let you know if I find out anything.

There's a place in Islandia - just off 454 that's really nice. They have jumping rings and I beleive you can go trail riding there. If you are serious I would think you'd be more interested in ring riding.

I used to ride at Country farms in Yaphank. There is also a riding center in Bayport at the end of Sylvan Ave., don't know the name though. you could probably just stop by there.

There's one on Old Nichols Road, just north of Hooters and BJs (exit 58 off the LIE). I've never stopped in, but I pass by it all the time. They often have shows and jumps going on.

I know that there is one in West Babylon near Belmont State Park. I always see the signs in that area.

Re: Stables on LI
I went to a country house near by where I live this weekend and ran into this and thought, if only I had the time to start riding again...perhaps when my son is a bit older.
You can't see in the picture, but two of the girls were smoking fags. Made me laugh.

I ride in Huntington now (at Stanhope Stables). I used to ride at Country Farms in Medford and I think Touch and Go was right next to it. There is also Good Shepard out in Yaphank. A little further away is Parkview in Central Islip and Knoll Farm (where I rode for 12 years) in Brentwood.

There are two-Islandia Horse Farm which seems bigger nicer than the other which is Pal-o-mine(cute name) IHF is South of the LIE and Pal-o-mine is North
