I've never seen that light on my Passat. Is that the oil temperature? Do you have a guage for the temperature? Mine is always smack dab in the middle.
eta: why don't you just call your dealer's service department and ask them?

my friend just had this! There was a recall on her car (2003). it was something with a light
if it is 4 months old it is under warranty just call the dealership.
