what color would you paint...

your den... if you had to paint it before you were buying carpeting or new furniture?
thing is, we are currently taking down paneling in the downstairs den of what will be our high ranch home. however, we don't have the money just yet to buy new couches or tables for the room, or new carpeting. the furniture in the room now is a dark plaid and the rug is cream.
this is going to be our comfy tv room, it will also have a desk with our computer and down the line, be a playroom type room as well. since the paneling is coming down, we will have to paint... but don't plan on finishing the room for about a year or so. but i'd rather not have to repaint again when we furnish it.
do you think i should just go with a neutral color? beige or taupe?

I would definitely go with a neutral color - that way you are not limited in the rest of the decor of the room when you are ready to finish it.

I would definately go with something warm & neutral, like a beigey type color. You could always do an accent wall down the road when you get furniture!
