No Baby Shower
I'm 31 weeks pregnant with my first. My husband got stationed in Colorado. He has a few friends but know no one. I come from a big family with lots of sisters,we are very close. I haven't seen any of my family since new years,so they missed out on my whole pregnancy so far. Its finally starting to hit me. I didn't think it would bothered me not having a baby shower but recently it has. I don't care about the gifts , I just wish that I had my mom, sisters and good friends to celebrate this special time with me. My husband being in the army ,its hard for him to get time off.I had problems in the beginning of my pregnancy so I'm not allow to fly,to go visit on my own. We can't afford for my family to come visit us.I don't know I guess I'm just feeling a little down about myself and need to let this out. I should be lucky that I have a wonderful husband ,who is so exicted about our daughter and loves me being pregnant. I don't know is it sucha bad thing ,Wanting to have a baby shower with your sisters, girl friends and especially mom there?
Update: I just post this today and I got some great relys back. I want to thank everyone for the advice and comments. Its really have made me feel so much better. Thanks you all so much again.

Re: No Baby Shower
Sorry about the situation you're in, but I'm sure that once you're allowed to fly and take the baby to see your family, they're going to have something special planned for you! Your feelings are completely normal...hang in there...it'll work out!

I'm 31 weeks too I understand your feelings. Just keep telling yourself how lucky you both are about this little baby that will be coming into your lives. My DH and I after 2 1/2 years of trying or so excited. Nothing else matters to us, our prayers were answered and we are so thankful. Your day of celebration with all your loved ones will come soon enough.

Re: No Baby Shower
Of course you are upset...you have every right to have those feelings. Maybe your mom and sisters can all arrange a conference call with you and you can talk babies and laugh and maybe you can even open a gift or two that they send you. That could be really fun.

Re: No Baby Shower
Where are you guys stationed? My dad was stationed at Pete Field when my mom was pregnant with me and then later with my brother. So she didn't have a shower either, and missed her family terribly too. Luckily, when you are in the military everyone is in the same situation and are also looking for friends. My mom met some really nice women on base and she's remained friends with some of them ever since. One couple even made it to my brother's wedding a few weeks back and were telling everyone how my mom is one of their oldest friends and how they've really enjoyed being extended family to my brother and I.
Best of luck! I know being a military wife isn't easy, but my brother and I loved being AF brats. We got to see so much of the country, it was great.
