Question about working out when PG
I am 4wks. pg and I was wondering about continue to work out during the first trimester. I started working with a trainer twice a week this spring and I was thinking of holding off for a while with weights and the trainer and just doing cardio (walking, elipitical).
What do you think????
Thanks!

Re: Question about working out when PG
Not preg, but am a fitness magazine editor and train with a yoga teacher who is pregnant! It's fine...if you have worked out before, keep on doing it. They say if you have NEVER done it, don't start. Just avoid heat-building work like hot yoga...it sounds to me like what you are doing is perfect! (and you should see my teacher!)

Re: Question about working out when PG
I was told that as long as you have a workout plan before you're pregnant, thatyour body should be use to it. Not to start anything new workout while pregnant. So yes it should be ok. Just don't over do it and if you feel cramping or out of breath then you should probably cut back. Your body know what it can and can't handle. Good luck and Congrats.

Re: Question about working out when PG
I read that you should just keep your heart rate below 140 and not to lift weights over your head. I imagine thats more applicable to later months.

Re: Question about working out when PG
all of the above! I had spotting at week 5 so I had to stop, I can finally start to add walking and build from there. Definitely tell your trainer you are pregnant!
