Has anyone miss IUI because of ovulation?
Hi Everyone,
I have been struggling to get pregnant for 6 months. I had a miscarriage in Dec 2006 ( I was 5 months with twins).
The last two scheduled IUI my doctor missed my ovulation. I was really upset about it.
Does this happen to anyone??

I'm sorry to hear about your m/c.
I think the main reason that IUIs don't work in general is because of timing. I could understand once but twice might raise a concern for your doctor. Is your dr. and RE or an OB/GYN?

I'm so sorry for your loss
My doctor missed my O once, and what sucked is I was doing injections...all those shots for nothing. But missing to O's sounds a little fishy to me. Is your doctor giving you blood tests to see what your progesterone level is??

I would definitely look into another Dr. I could understand once, but twice is unacceptable. There's no point in going to the Dr. if he/she is missing ovulation.

Re: Has anyone miss IUI because of ovulation?
My doctor was a ob/gyn now he is strictly inferilty. I am being to wonder how great he is.
He does blood tests and sono's and still missed it twice. I to do injections it is a waste of a cycle.
For the doctor there is always next time, but for me this is a emotional rollacoaster.
Can anyone recomend a doctor?
Thanks for the help..

First, I am so sorry for your loss....
Secondly, I agree with everyone else, start looking for another doctor. Two missed cycles is not acceptable.

Re: Has anyone miss IUI because of ovulation?
So sorry to hear about your loss.
When I got pg from an IUI, I had a sonogram on Day 11. My doc was sure that I would ovulate the next day and told me to come back the next day for an IUI. He was very suprised that my OPK did not detect a surge. When I had that first IUI, I still hadn't ovulated yet and came back the following day for a second one. I ovulated between the two IUIs and one of them worked.
Unfortunately, it was a chemical and I had to wait a cycle to allow my body to adjust - so far so good. Like you, I am concerned that I may miss my prime time for IUIs because my body is still adjusting. My cycle is shorter so it is possible I will ovulate sooner than later. I decided to really keep a close eye on my chart and start OPKs one day earlier than the package says to despite already having an appointment for a sonogram. Anything can happen. I should also mention I am not on medication or injectables.
I agree with the other posters. You may need a doctor who is more proactive in helping you figure out when you might ovulate. Best of luck.

You should have your Dr. reimburse you for the meds. You have had to pay for two cycles of injectables (not cheap!) for no reason whatsoever.
I would be pizzed!!
