What would you do....
without getting into specifics, I'll give you my situation....
What if someone offered to buy your crib, but made a comment that it was too expensive (exact words "Oy"). Would you change your choice in furniture to make them happy, or would you just tell the person "if you can't afford it, we'll chip in"?
I never expected this person/people to even buy it for us, but part of me is feeling guilty. And IMO the crib isn't even that much $$.

I would make up the difference on what they didn't want to pay. We did that with our furniture.

Re: What would you do....
Our parents bought us our crib, dresser/changing table and mattress. We asked them what the budget was after they offered to purchase DS furniture. We went over budget with the custom glider and ottoman and told them that we were purchasing that on our own.

NO WAY...I'd absolutley stay with my original choice. The person should have asked the cost before offering and then trying to make you feel guilty about it.
eta: I too would offer to chip in or suggest they just get a gift card to the store towards it.

Re: What would you do....
Strange they would offer without knowing the price first... but I wouldnt change what I wanted especially since you expected to buy it yourself in the first place.

You should get what you want. I would offer to make up the difference from what they planned on spending. If they're uncomfortable with not buying the whole thing (if you chip in) maybe suggest they buy something else important - that isn't as expensive.

i agree with the others, i would stick with your original choice and make up the difference. you shouldn't compromise a crib you love to fit someone else's budget.

I would make up the difference. This is an important choice IMO, and you want something you are happy with.

I would definetly not CHANGE IT... If it makes you feel better then say that you will pay the difference. But if you are offering to buy something then you should just suck it up and buy it IMO
