I am just so upset...
I am posting here because of more traffic. My cat is 14 yrs old. He has been mopping around here and there , and limping on his back paw. I called the vet and they said he probably hurt his paw, keep an eye on him. He started to perk up today, he almost threw up once but he did not. I then cut his nails on the back paw, and he is walking better. The vet told me it is probably a sprain. Fast forward to my sister who comes over and says he looks awful. He has lost some weight- which I was told is normal in an older cat. I am going away for a 2 week trip tomorrow - cross country. the cat has been drinking and even got up and is walking better- but I am so scared it is awful news. I do not want to go away, but we have to go becuase it is a very expensive trip. HELP I need some hugs.My sister will be checking on him , but I am so miserable right now. I feel like a bad cat Mommy. ( I must sound pathetic)

Aww that stinks! I hope he feels better soon.
Here's a thought, maybe you could ask your sister to do you a favor and take the cat to the vet?

She is going to if she has to, I am just so sad this can be the end. He is drinking so that is good, and he got up before , but not eating as far as I know.( I have 2 cats). I guess him getting up and drinking water is good....

I can imagine how you must feel. Is it possible for your sister to take him to the vet for a check-up while your gone? Make sure your family understands how upset and worried you are and make them promise to take extra special care of him in your absence. Whatever you do, don't let it ruin your trip. If you have to be away from him, at least make it worth it! He might appreciate the alone time to rest-up and get better.
PS You do not sound pathetic! I missed my own niece's Communion because my doggie was sick.

UPDATE- It is almost 4 AM and we are getting ready to go to the airport. The cat seems a little bit better since last night, he is walking better too. My sister is going to keep an eye on him and if necessary take him to the vet. I just hope he is getting better he seems more perky- he is drinking water- I just hope he is eating-

What about board him at the vet..this way they can monitor him and take care of anything that may not be just right or anything that may happen (nothing WILL happen)!!

I would say to board him at the Vet as well. An Ex-Gf of mine used to work at an Animal Hospital in St. James and they always had pets being boarded.

Hi All, you usually never find me on this board but I am posting for Sue. She is away on a 2 week vacation and got word from her sister that she had to put her cat to sleep. I believe she said the cat had liver cancer.
Sue again John & I are very sorry to hear of the loss of your cat.
