dr. mastro....
hi all....i'm only 5w6d, but had a quick question. when i was pregnant with my son, i saw dr. mastro (a high risk specialist) prety much weekly and then 2-3 a weeks for the last few months bc i'm a juvenile diabetic. anyway, when i went to my ob last week, he told me dr. mastro is no longer practicing here. i'm SO upset....as much as i hated the wait at his office, i felt extremely comfortable that my baby was in good hands and that i was being well taken care of. anyway, just wanted to know if anyone knows teh actual story behind him leaving....and wanted to see if anyone goes to madonna perinatal services for high risk issues? thanks to all for any feedback!!!! gotta say- can't believe i'm back on here! exciting...just hoping all is ok- went for my first sono on monday (was only 5w4d) and they saw the yolk sac, but said it was too early for the heartbeat. heading back on the 27th.....

First of all CONGRATS! 
Yes, I saw Dr Mastro for my ultrascreen and Level II and then when it was time to see him for my GD, he was gone. Rumor has it that he made enough money and just shut down... I forgot where I heard this.
So I have been going to Madonna in W. Babylon and their scheduling is hectic and the waiting room in tiny but everyone there is wonderful!!!

Most of his clients ended up going to Madonna in W. Babylon. That office used to be quieter than the Mineola office but now with the huge increase of patients to the W. Babylon office... it's a mad house.

crazy rumor.....i'm determined to get the full scoop! glad to hear you like the people at madonna....waiting to see when i'll have to go see them!!! congrats to you.....4 weeks to go! very exciting!

thanks so much for the heads up.....maybe i'll travel to the mineola office instead?!? i'll wait as long as i like the doctor!

I heard dr. mastro moved to Phili. Honestly, I felt that he was a total alarmist. He made me very nervous. Told me I had placenta previa at 11 weeks 4 days (my dr. was surprised he said this so early since it's very common in first trimester and i had no symptoms) He also told my sister she had placenta previa the same day. I went to Madonna in W. Babylon on the wait was cut in 1/2.

Shortly after he left. I heard from my OB that he moved to Philly and is teaching college?

I went to Dr Mastro and became friends with Kkelly the sono tech--they even gave her medical clearance to be in the room for my c-section. I adored him---Ii will desperately miss them.
He moved to Phili.
