What is a growth sono and when do you go for them
Sorry, I am clueless about this and always read post about them. Is this the same as internals when you are closer to the EDD?

In my OB office, it is around 33-34 weeks. I will be 33 1/2 weeks for mine. They don't start internals until 36 weeks. HTH.

A growth sonogram let you know if your baby is growing or not. Also it lets you know if your baby is getting very big or if the baby is underweight.
I had one on July 12 because my DD is measuring three to four weeks ahead due to the fact that I have fibroids which have grown with the pregnancy. So they were measuring the fibroids with baby and that is the reason I am measuring ahead of schedule. I am scheduled for another this Thursday as well.

I will be 34 wks on Thurs and i have been going everyweek since week 30. They are watching me for pre-ecelmpsia because of some protein spillage. But it's nice to see  change!!!

my OB doesn't do growth sonos unless your belly is measuring big or small.
i get vaginal sonos every 2 weeks to measure cervical length... but those are no fun

I will be getting a growth sono on 9/13 and I will be over 37 weeks then. I think that is kind of late so I am going to pester them next week to make it sooner.

I am having my first one next week and I will be 31 weeks. At my last appt I lost a lb and have only gained 12 lbs. The doctor isn't concerned, but said it just helps to check the growth of the baby.

Due to the high blood pressure, I used to get growth sonos every three weeks. I had them done at The Womens Health Center at Huntington Hospital, everyone there was great!
Its not internal, just like a sono, done with the gel on your belly

I think this is true. I'm scheduled to go every week since last week b/c of my placenta problems (from bleeding in early pregnancy) and b/c I had 1 high sugar # at my 3hr glucose test. They need to monitor babys weight closely.

Yep. I only had one b/c DS was measuring small. They are not commmonplace.

many dr offices do not administer them anymore. i pretty much begged for one at 36 weeks bc i was measuring small, but everything is ok
if you feel you need one and they dont beg for one it is your baby . I am very happy i did bc i ws relieved.

wow that is exactly my situation...i have 3 fibroids, and one that is protruding hugely every now and then when the baby moves...i measure around 3 weeks ahead also..

wow that is exactly my situation...i have 3 fibroids, and one that is protruding hugely every now and then when the baby moves...i measure around 3 weeks ahead also..
Wow!!! I will be doing a sonogram tomorrow for them to see where my fibroids are located so they can decide whether or not I will deliver vaginally or by c-section. What is doc going to do since your fibroid is protruding hugely?

my dr hasn't mentioned it at all. Every time i ask for a sono, she doesn't do one, and says they only will if they thought there was a problem! 
I'm going to the dr. today, and i'm 34 weeks today. I'll see what she says!
How can she really know the size/weight by measuring my belly with her hands

I don't know if the next two sonos I'm having are growth sonos, but my MD gave me a schedule of all remaining visits last time I saw him. I have a sono at week 26 & 32 on the schedule.

nothing..he's just monitoring them and as long as the one by my cervix doesn't cause problems, all is a go ahead for delivering vaginally...the one that protrudes is outside uterus, and he won't remove it yet b/c the bleeding from the surgery would be worse than it actually being there..we're hoping that after pregnancy it will shrink from lack of hormones...we'll see!

OKay. Good luck!! They will be scheduling aC-section for me. I have on on top of my uterus and one on top of my uterus.

You only get them if there's a reason...I stopped growing so I had them to see how the baby was growing. He had slowed down a lot, but was in proportion and growing properly within his slower rate. They finally realized i just have small babies (my first was tiny as well) though i see the concern since with my first i was sick a lot and this time incredibly healthy. they have nothign to do with internals. i had my first one at 33 or 35 weeks (i can't remember now)...because my belly suddenly seemed too small to my dr.
