another credit card question... UPDATE
another thing i've read to do to help you get out of cc debt faster is to call and ask to lower your interest rate.
is calling this late in the day a no-no?
should i wait for my lunch break tomorrow or should i call tonight?
UPDATE: Capital One didn't bite. he gave me this double-talk about how when they've reviewed my account it's been for credit line increases, not interest rate reduction, because i'm "within the national norm". whatever that means. i told him i was going to take my business elsewhere, he started to lecture me on how closing an account will affect my credit.
i told him that i know how a credit score works, and that i didn't call looking for a lecture. so, i'll be transferring my balance to another card tomorrow.
i, even, followed oprah's debt diet script.
oh well, i'm not giving up. i will try again with my bank of america credit card tomorrow.

Re: another credit card question
I would call now. Most banks have customer service open 24hours. If they can't help you, they'll tell you to call back. It's worth a try.
Plus, shorter hold times on the phone.

Re: another credit card question... UPDATE
I called a month ago to request a lower APR on a card and they did lower it for me. I think as long as have no late payments for 6 months to a year and pay more than the minimum each month they should lower your APR.
Also remember that when you transfer to another card, be sure to read the fine print.. most companies charge you a 3% transfer fee of the amount you transfer. Try doing research on cards that offer a lower transfer rate oh and also no annual fee.
I hope things work out for you!!
