Rolling Over?

So my dd just learned how to roll over - from back to front - but she can't roll the other way. She gets really frustrated and its starting to interrupt her sleep. I'm also worried about SIDS since that means she's "stuck" on her tummy. What can I do?

Re: Rolling Over?

In everything I've read it said that once a baby starts rolling over the SIDS risk is greatly reduced, however I don't know since she's not rolling back over. I think it'll probably happen soon though -- how long has she been rolling in the one direction? How old is she?

Alex was the opposite, he rolled from front to back first but couldn't roll from his back to his tummy. The first time he rolled was in August, it took him another month before he rolled the other way. He was 6 months old before he could do both.

I rolled my daughter back after she was asleep for a few weeks. Then that started to wake her up, so I just let her sleep on her tummy.

The doctor told me that once she started to roll over on her own the chance for SIDS really decreases and you can leave her like that. I must've been in her room 12 times a night checking on her until I got used to it.

Re: Rolling Over?

Once the twins started to roll onto their stomach's, they started to fall asleep on their bellies. Now, when Jillian is put down to sleep, she'll roll onto her stomach to sleep.

I don't think there is much you can do. My son did back to belly first too and got stuck ther eas well and the first few weeks he screamed all night long fo rus to roll him back (he hated tummy time). Then he learned to love it and became a belly sleeper. It took him about another month before he learned belly to back.

Thanks for your reponses - Cameron will be four months next week. Last night she sllept through without rolling so we'll see how it goes. Its mostly naps that she does this and hopefully she'll learn to roll back b efore long! I'm glad to hear the SIDS risk decreases with this new skill though.
