BM Paint Question
Did you prime all your walls first before painting? We will be picking paint out soon and didn't know if we should prime all the walls first, since the paint that is up right now is just flat white cheap paint. TIA!

Re: BM Paint Question
if it is white, u shouldnt have to prime. unless u are putting a dark color, than u might want to tint it first with a tinted primer

Re: BM Paint Question
If you have white paint, and the walls are in good condition, you may not need to prime. Especially not if you are using the same kind of paint that is up there now (water or oil-based).
We read a little online about this and spoke to the guy in the paint store before we bought the paint, and he basically gave us the suggestion I have above.
I think you need primer mainly to cover patching on the walls or a darker paint color. We did use it, but mainly because we were painting lighter than the colors on the walls, and one wall needed some plaster.

Re: BM Paint Question
we didnt prime any of our walls... however we painted darker colors on them... so it nothing really showed through... we now have one room that is red... if we ever painted over it, i think we would need to prime...

What colors are you using? If you are using a dark color, you will want to use tinted primer.

Re: BM Paint Question
Thanks everyone! We are using some lighter colors. OK, so we will prime the walls that we repaired and prime the walls that might be darker colors with tinted primer. For the most part, the walls upstairs are white, but a little dirty with finger prints, but I can probably clean that off first. Thanks!

Re: BM Paint Question
We always prime our walls with a TINTED PRIMER...no matter what the color.
I've worked with the Aura paint and I was unimpressed. I much prefer regular BM paints.
