I am pretty sure it's 39 weeks. I know they won't do my c-section before 39 weeks because the hospital has a strict rule that they won't deliver you earlier than a week before your due date.

There are some women who can't carry to term and if it is medically justified, they have to do a C-section earlier. Any hospital has a policy in place for it, but it can be very strict. It usually requires an amnio to determine whether the baby's lungs are ready, plus proof that carrying to term would be detrimental.

Re: what is the earliest we can be induced?
You have to ask your doctor. But a lot of doctors will not induce until two weeks AFTER your due date unless there is a medical reason present.
My doctor said no induction would be discussed until 41 weeks. At my 39 week appointment, my blood pressure had skyrocketed, she sent me to the hospital to be monitored and in the end, decided to induce me. For a medical reason.
If you are induced (without a medical reason) before your body is ready (very little dilation or effacment) then you have a greater risk of a c-section.

Re: what is the earliest we can be induced?
At my hospital I believe the policy is there must be a medical reason to induce prior to 40wks although macrosomia (large baby) has seemed to be an acceptable reason lately. If it is before 38wks then you either need and amnio to prove lung maturity or special approval from a MFM(maternal fetal medicine) doctor.

There are a lot of factors that determine this..and each doctor has their own policy as well.
