Alcoholism...
DH has a guy that works for him and the last few weeks has really gone on a spiral downward. He has been drinking a lot, getting loud at all the other guys that work for Dh and causing problems in general. Today he came to work drunk as a skunk! DH told him to go home and not to come back...and the guy walked out.
DH felt bad and then followed him. They had a long talk and Dh promised to help him find some help with his drinking. THe guy has no place to live... He has been living in a campground all summer because he got kicked out of his apartment. He lives from paycheck to paycheck.
SO my question here is what is the first step to help him...he is asking for DH to help him get into a program or AA or something. I fortunately have not personally ever dealt with alcoholism ...so where can he go...?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I would get the number for the local AA office and give it to him. If HE is willing to get help he has to make the call. Only than can he help himself.
I wish him the best of luck. It's a long hard road to overcome alcoholism.

Do they have health benefits? Some plans will cover a 30 day program.

AA has a 24-hour manned helpline (locally). I'll try to find the number for you.
Please remember that your DH cannot change this man - he has to want to help himself.

Found it - Nassau Intergroup (AA division) has a 24 hour hotline:
24 hour HotLine: (516) 292.3040
Your DH can call for information, but it would probably be more helpful for the man himself to call.

No...DH has known this guy for years and he got laid off from his other job and DH took him in "off the books" ..

There are rehabs that take you even if you cannot affod to pay them.
Please have him call the hotline number and speak to someone who knows what they are doing!
