Confession to all the preggers (re:enemas)...
I pooped on the table. I was terrified the week prior that I would cr@p on the table but was too scared to do an enema.
Guess what? It was NOTHING. The only reason I knew was because I felt the nurse quickly *swipe* down there. My eyes flew open and I said, "OMG- did I just do what I have been dreading?" The nurse and doctor laughed and I began APOLOGIZING. They roared laughing and said they LIKE to see poop- it's confirmation that your pushing correctly. My mom, sis, and DH witnessed the event and it's never been mentioned unless I brought it up. My mom said it happend so quick she would have never known except that *I* made a fuss (she's probably lying of course, but I appreciate her thoughtfulness).

I was just talking about how mortified I am of this happening this morning! Thank you for calming my nerves! My DH will be relieved when I tell him I'm not stressing about it anymore! Its pretty much all I've talked about since I read Belly Laughs a few weeks ago!

Thanks for sharing. The doula who led my birthing class said that the nurses usually wipe it up quickly and discretely. I just told my DH that if it happens to me he is never to talk about it in front of anyone.

THANK YOU FOR THE REASSURANCE!!!
I am so scared of this!! I was actually telling my Dr at my last appt how Im so nervous this will happen and she said that it is a sign that you are pushing correctly and not to be embarrassed by it one bit since its so common...
even so - im dreading the possibility!!!!!!!!!!! but thanks to your confession i do feel a little better

I'm glad my confession has helped. When you're in the throes of pushing, it's the last thing you are thinking about. I pushed so long I wouldn't have cared if a marching band came out playing "When the Saints Go Marching In".....

So did I with my Son, they clean it so fast that you practically don't even know you did it,. I was told the same thing, if you poop, your pushing correctly. In four pushes, my son was out!

i think it is so awesome that you wrote this!!! when i was pregnant with my dd i was terrified i was going to poop on the table. my doctor had me drink this strange cocktail at home that wound up making me poop at home and put me into labor. i didn't poop on the table with dd, but i have been thinking about this time as i get closer to 10/28.
