Are humidifiers really necessary?
I was looking over the list of must-haves that i got from BRU and a humidifier was listed, i'm just curious if anyone else registered for one and if its REALLY necessary.

I think when they are sick, it makes them breathe easier. Not necessary because its not a "cure" but comfort is worth it.

my pediatrician said a cool air humidifier is a must - it's great when they are congested.

I can see the usefulness but I am concerned that the warm air ones encourage bacteria growth. I do not know what type to buy.

A nurse told me that a cool mist humified is a very wise investment. She said the $30-40 is totally worth it. It also depends on the type of heat you have in your home and how warm your house is.

You can get one for even cheaper than that...I found that they really do come in handy...especially in the winter when the air gets so dry.
