How do I patch my ceiling??
please offer me some help or point me in the right direction. i had cac installed and one of the vents leaked. the duct wasn't on tightly. anyhow, it is now fixed but i can't screw the vent back into the ceiling b/c the drywall is wet. what do i do? a solution, not requiring me to cut and put new sheetrock up is best. the area that has water damage is very small. just slightly larger than the vent cover, just so it has nothing to screw back into.

Re: How do I patch my ceiling??
I'm not sure.....
I've done a good deal of drywall patching, but never when it required to support another object afterwards....
I'm fairly sure you're going to have to cut out that damaged drywall..... but I don't think you can use wire or plastic mesh / spackle when you're screwing the vent in that area afterwards.... you may have to do drywall patch + taping + skim coating.....
I'd go to home depot's paint section, and look for one of those former painter guys they hire to run that dept. Ask him.

You call the AC company and make them fix it......
If you have to do it yourself you can buy the stick on mesh patch, mud it in and then screw your vent back on.
I WOULD MAKE THE AC COMPANY FIX IT.
You should never have any water in the vents, water created in you air handler should be drained from your attic space and not be entering your vents.
