Show Me Your Fireplace - Pic Added

We're gathering ideas for our fireplace.

Has anyone re-faced their fireplace / hired someone to do this? What did you do?

We just began our LR renovation and would like to change the fireplace from brick-traditional to craftsman-modern.

Any links you may have would be most appreciated.......and of course pictures of yours (or ones you like!!).

TIA!

This is what we're working with (old pic taken when we first moved in). Right now, the pine board has been removed (Chat Icon) and we're trying to decide if we'll keep the wood cubby (what's behind the little door to the right of the fireplace).

Because the fireplace is asymetric (narrow sides and wide top) I feel like we have to play around with the placement of the mantle so as to even it out a bit.

Thoughts?

This is gorgeous and exactly what we're looking to do.

Is it gas? Was the fireplace already there when you moved in? It looks like the depth is quite narrow? We have an original mantle but no fireplace and we need to install something that is ventless into a very narrow space.

It is gas. We installed it when we converted from oil to gas. It's not deep at all - maybe 3 inches. But the back (or whatever contraption is necessary thru the back) is in the garage. This wall is shared with our attached garage.

Re: Show Me Your Fireplace

Thanks for the pics & links...Kelly, that site is great! I love the kitchen (4th pic in) with the green tile. Gorgeous!

Skew...some of those are crazy ornate and while I don't want a stone mantle, there were a couple that would work as inspiration for wood. Thanks!

Jessee...looks great - thanks for sharing!

ThanksChat Icon Unfortunatley, ours backs onto the exerior wall, so we don't have that option. I'll just have to get someone in to tell us what we can do.

Very nice - I love 2 & 3 sided fireplaces. I like your stone face too - I assume it's granite.
