Has anyone done IVF before IUI?

I'm not sure what the benefit would be of trying it that way around? IUI is a lot less invasive & time consuming not to mention a darn sight kinder on the wallet than IVF

i think there are reasons to go straight to IVF. BUt I think those reasons make IUI useless before OR after IVF.

I work with someone whose friend did that. Her RE indicated that because her DH had severe male factor that IVF with ICIS would be there only shot and it work!  They are in the process of working on  #2

yes me. I was told you have a better chances with IVF and since my inusrance covered it..i didn't want to waste my time. My DH had sperm issues so for us this was the better route. I don't really have patience so if i want something i go for the route with the best odds.

based on what i know. i thikn skipping IUI makes snese for certain people regarding their medical conditions but as IVF is basically a more accurate more successful version than IUI i have never heard of someone tryign it after the fact. IVF you get the fertilization done for you. IUI is still basically natural the best sperm is just put where its supposed to go. so it can help thoise of us with challenges gettign pg but IVF is more percise. If insurance covered it and if my dr was in favor of it i would have gone right to it instead of IUI. but since im in my 20s and based on my specific issues IUI is thogth to be successful. we will see...GL

My sister is in the process of her first IVF (she had her retreival Monday) and her transfer on Thursday. She didn't have any IUI's. Her insurance covered IVF, so they went straight to that.

I agree we went straight to IVF....IUI wouldn't have worked for us.

Thanks ladies. We are going straight IVF mostly because of insurance benefits and success rates. Hopefully it'll be the right decision.

It has been done. My friend went straight to IVF due to various reasons, and she is now PG with twin girls.
It can be done.

I went straight to ivf, never had iui. After talking with my RE, we decided that, due to male infertility issues, ivf was our best option. We decided that iui would have ben a waste of our time and money.

i did IVF w/o IUI b/c i have one functioning ovary and one patent tube and they are on the opposite sides from each other.
