I can totally understand your frustration. People need to learn to make arrangements for people to watch their children and not assume that family will always be available to watch them.

Oh no no no no. Do not watch those kids! That shouldn't be on your shoulders. Sorry, but if it was an emergency, that'd be one thing, but sounds like they need to research some other options there. I'd call back with some phone numbers of daycare centers.

I would be upset that she didn't call me herself.
You have a busy schedule. If you can do it I'm sure they would appreciate the help, but don't feel guilty if you can't.

I totally agree with this. Do not agree to watch the kids. I wouldn't even come up with an excuse, just say "no." It's just prolonging the inevitable. They are going to have to make other, more reliable child care arrangements if your MIL can not do it. Why the woman would have 5 kids, not work and not be able to watch her own kids is way beyond me. I don't blame you for being p*ssed.
