eating honey...
Is it ok to eat honey when pregnant? DH saw on the bottle that it says not to feed honey to children under 1 year old. I'm worried - I eat a LOT of honey...

Re: eating honey...
I was told by a friend that you couldn't eat it, but had never heard of this before, so I asked my doctor. Sure enough, it is on the do not eat list because honey is not pasturized. Sorry!

Re: eating honey...
Honey is fine in pregnancy- your body filters out any harmful bacteria. Babies shouldn't eat it due to their immature digestive systems.

From Sue Bee honey site:
Is honey pasteurized? No. Honey is by nature very low in bacteria and other microbes and does not benefit from a pasteurization process.
(in other words, it should be ok)

Honey is absolutely safe in pg. I don't know why a Dr. would say otherwise when there are studies done that prove it's safe (see above links).

Re: eating honey...
i was having a lot of honey a few months back because my throat always hurt and i would have honey in the several cups of tea i'd drink. I asked my dr. and she said it was okay in moderation-just not to overdo it..

Honey in tea here also, pretty much every day. Have never been told it was "off limits".
