Raleigh/Cary, NC ladies
What have you heard about the schools in the area? DH and I are considering heading down there next year, and I wanted to know about different reps of the districts/counties.

Oooo...I'd like to know this too since those are the areas we fell in love with as well.

Re: Raleigh/Cary, NC ladies
I have a friend who is currently in the process of moving down there and she is a teacher. The bottom line for her is that after researcing the areas and accepting a job in the system, she is not sure she will be keeping her kids in public school down there. The problem, the way she explained it to me, is that its a county based school system, which means that although you buy Carey, your kids can go to school anywhere within the county of Cary and because of the population boom kids are frequently forced to change schools. Although, I don't have first hand knowledge, its something I would further research, if I wanted to move down there.
In my friends case, they are going for a business opportunity and if necessary, are willing to "eat" the cost of private school.

I don't know much about Cary but I am pretty sure the schools there are great.
As for Raleigh, the schools there are doing very well. DH is a teacher and we are in the process of either moving there or near Charlotte.

Thanks! Right now we're looking at it from more of a teacher standpoint.
The idea of being able to own a single family home is just so appealing right now.
Thanks!
ETA: I'm pretty familiar with the county concept - that's how it is here in VA - though the 'boom' where i am is pretty much over - my kids constantly changing schools would irk me though.

we met a RE agent while we were there last year. she sends her kids to private school. she said it was $1500 a month for 2 kids.
