HSG

Just had my HSG. a lot of people have been asking me what to expect so here is my experience--
I was really scared that it would be awful but my experience it was totally fine. I took 4 advils 1 hour before and it hurt for maybe 10 seconds and it was more of a surprise - an unpleasnat one- than a terrible pain than that was it. after the fact i kinda felt a little bloated but that was it. it was very easy for me. i hear they can take 50 pictures of you in all angles and there is all this pain and you have to lay there after the fact so the pain can subside and it was pretty scarey. for me they ony took 2 pictures and my tubes are open. the experience overall was very easy for me. the problem was dertimed to be male factor and i was supopsed to go for an IUI yesterday but my follicles werent large enought yet. stress has slowed down ovulation this month. im going again tomorrow to get tested. i just took an OPK and the line was very faint. i know it wasnt a positive but having a line was more than not and i expect it to be positive tomorrow. good luck to all.

I also just had my hsg and felt very little pain. it was like very dull cramps and they lasted for less than a minute. i was worried about the pain after everything i had read, but i was pleasantly surprised.

My friend just got pregnant after her HSG....she had been TTC for over 4 years.

I'm glad you had a good experience. I'm hopefully having mine on Thurs so it's good to hear that it's not as bad as it sounds!!

Thanks all! i couldnt get it on sat but i am going tomorrow for my IUI ( wed) and Thurs! very excited! its a natural cycle- but next month i get fertility assistance. i really want the drugs! i know my odds are better and my ultimate dream would be and has always been twins so this wouls assist iin that as well.... of course if it happened this month i would be beyoned thrilled to be done with this process! good luck to all.


lovelyli-- an HSG is a Hysterosalpingogram
Its basically an xray of your reproductive organs. The purpose is to make sure your fallopian tubes are open. its performed by a catheter being inserted into your cervix, dye is pumped in and if your tubes are open it spills out into your stomach ( harmless). When the catheter goes in people sometimes experience a lot of pain and then after as well. Some peopple find it to be awful and others dont. I have a low threshold for pain so was concerend but i was fine.

I'm glad you had a decent experience. I must say, mine was about the same. But many women get much worse pain than we did.
