Cramping--is this normal?
I am about 4.5 weeks pregnant. Since the day of what I think was implantation, I have had cramps. They started out very mild, but in the last 2 days they have gotten stronger, more like my monthly menstrual cramps. They are strong enough that if I could I would take Advil. They are coming and going, but mostly seem to be at night right before I go to sleep and in the morning when I first wake up.
Has anyone else experienced cramps lke this early on in their pregnancy?

Re: Cramping--is this normal?
i haven't experienced any cramping yet, though i spotted in teh beginning - if ur not sure, i'd check w/the doc just to make sure all is ok. it might be ur body reacting to implantation - but to be safe, i'd call

Re: Cramping--is this normal?
I got mild cramps - but nothing too severe at all. They say some cramping is normal, it's your uterus expanding.

Re: Cramping--is this normal?
it's most likely totally normal. many women get AF-like cramps early on in pregnancy. implantation actually can take a long time (like, weeks), which can cause cramping. the initial expanding of your uterus also causes cramps. if the cramping is accompanied by spotting, then i would definitely call your doc.

I had cramps...very uncomfortable cramps...but I don't remember them being bad enough to take a pain killer.

I agree! As long as you don't have bleeding you should be fine. One of the girls on here posted that her cramps would double her over and she just delivered a healthy baby-can't remember who-it was the girl who lived in PA and commuted to NYC I think? I would still tell the Dr but I'm sure you are fine

Re: Cramping--is this normal?
I am 8 weeks today and still getting the odd cramp. I mentioned it to my Dr and she said not to worry it is normal as long as there is no spotting. I would check with your Dr. Mine told me if it is bad to take Tylenol only, but again check with your Doc and try not to worry

Re: Cramping--is this normal?
Thanks...I love this board!
Most of my brain is telling me "this is all normal stuff" but it is that little bit that is making me worry. I guess that is how it will be for the next 8 months
I have a running list of things to ask the doctor when I call since I won't be seeing her for 3 and a half more weeks. She better have about 20 mins to spare for me and all my questions!

I am 9w6d and I have been cramping on and off since the beginning. Sometimes is turns out to be gas and other times I think its the uterus expanding. It's definitely uncomfortable, but my doc said its normal!

Re: Cramping--is this normal?
I was 5 weeks preggo when I found out - I had had cramps the entire week leading up to my BFP and for the entire week following. I'm talking every_single_day. I actually got nervous when they went away at first!

I cramped on and off till about 9 weeks. I was worried but my doctor said it is just my body making room for baby.

Re: Cramping--is this normal?
I also had bad cramping enough to wake me up in the middle of the night in tears. I was so worried I would cry, I called my dr and she said as long as I wasn't bleeding bright red blood I would be fine. The advice the dr gave me was 1) Drink A LOT of water 2) Relax as much as possible by laying down with a pillow under your legs The bad cramping got better after about week 7. I am 35 weeks now and every now and then I still get cramps. But not as bad as I did in the begining. I hope this helped.
