How would u take this?

One of my "friends" told my mom she was coming to my mini shower. Well I get a one lin email today asking me-How mad would you be if I couldnt make it?
I went on to explain that it was ok but awkward timing since mom had limited space and didnt invite another friend based on the assumption she was coming.

She said my response had attitude. I dont think it was attitude in my response. We are sopposedly friends for the past 16 years but sometimes it makes me wonder. She has offered no explaination as to why she couldnt make it.

After everything you have been thru,,,,, yeah I would be annoyed if my friend of 16 yrs cancelled at the last min. as well. I think your answer to her was honest. She should have at least explained the reason why she cant come.

I think Debbie said it perfectly. I would be upset too.

ETA: From what you wrote, I don't see any attitude on your part.

Re: How would u take this?

Obviously she knew you would be ticked off if she thought you might be mad in the first place or she wouldnt have asked. If she had an emergency, she just would not have come and you as her friend would have understood regardless of her reason - that is really nobody's business. Perhaps her response of judgement of your "attitude" is her way of acknowledging that she is wrong and shes just trying to save face.

ETA: I dont think you had an attitude.

Re: How would u take this?

You responded well!! I think you should just let it go. You're under so much stress and you don't know what's going on with her, so I'd let it go.

Attitude??????????????? I don't see any attitude in what you wrote. You said you understand but it was awkward for you mom. Hmmm, hello, that's the truth. If she can't handle it, don't worry yourself over it.
