Re: do all insurances....

I know that my insurance will cover everything... I just have to pay a $250 copay for the hospital stay. Not sure how other insurance works. I am sure a lot of them have the copay, but some may require you pay more.

How did you find out?
I am almost positive that I am fully covered. however I have a friend whose insurance only covers 80% - she has to pay like $100 a month (a payment plan) while she is pregnant.

Look at your insurance card. usually it is listed if there is a copay for hospital stays.

I didn't have to pay anything for the hospital stay, delivery, or medication required.

Each insurance policy is different. There really are no two that are alike because your employer makes the decision on what they what to cover and how they want to cover it.

The best thing to do is to call the 1-800 number on the back of your ID card and ask them about your level of coverage.

Trust me - I work in this field!

Re: do all insurances....

Well, I thought my insurance covered everything 100%, that is until I got bills from the hospital. Oxford is trying to tell me I have a 15% co-insurance, however, my certificate of coverage states "no charge for obstetrical care or inpatient hospital stays". There isn't a single reference of co-insurance in my policy. I appealed the claims and attached a copy of my certificate of coverage and they denied the appeals! So I had to do a 2nd appeal and am waiting to hear on that. I'm so frustrated with Oxford!!

Re: do all insurances....

when you call your insurance company make sure to not only ask about a copay but also about an inpatient deductible. every policy is different but some have a deductible instead of a copay. for most plans you shouldn't receive any bills from the doctors, just something from the hospital for either a copay or deductible.
