So Confused...need mattress help!

Hi,

Where did you buy your mattress from? Is there any difference between Macys, Fortunoff, Sleepys or 1-800-Mattress? I am interested in a Beauty Rest for DD but they all have different models of the same mattress? How did you decide?

Re: So Confused...need mattress help!

We went to sleepys and tested them out.

The guy was really helpful and I'd go back there if we needed a new one.

We decided on a beauty rest just by laying on them all and knew how much we wanted to spend and got the beautyrest that fell within our budget and was comfortable.

One word of advice...we've had our beautyrest for almost 2 years now and since it is a pillow top, we cant flip it so DH's side clearly is indented...we can only rotate it, which helps a little I guess. Also, ours is Queen size and I am a little dissapointed that I can feel the weight of DH on my side...meaning I can feel that the bed is uneven from him being heavier. I don't sink into the middle or anything, I just feel that he's weighing it down. ..and he is only 190lbs! I'm not sure I'd get another beautyrest. Make sure you test it out and make sure your DH doesnt weigh you down!! Chat Icon

Re: So Confused...need mattress help!

After some research and sleeping on one at a friend's house, I bought a Schiffman. I bought it at Bloomingdale's and highly recommend it.

My friend just bought a Serta King at Shop NBC, got a great deal and is very happy with it.

I believe that all of the stores carry basically the same mattresses but they have different names or style numbers.

yeah, the stores do that.... the rename the mattresses styles so everyone can claim they have the lowest price on beautyrest XXXXXX.... so sleazy

I can feel your pain about mattress purchase anxiety. I have no difficulty buying cars, signing 2 year leases.... but buying my mattress (on a student budget) was stressful. I was so scared that I'd only be able to get something that would sag and give me backaches within 6 months....

I can tell you that serta mattresses are pretty solid... even the budget models Chat Icon I bought it at sleepy's....

You need to figure out what kind of bed you like rather than worrying about where to go. All of the bed stores have similar types of beds. You will want to test out different types (foam, spring, latex, air, pillow top, euro top, etc.). The different stores are all pretty competitive with eachother.

I noticed the "competitive" factor the most at Sleepy's. The price of the mattress I was interested in was $1699. Well as soon as I said I had to think about it the man said I will give you 50% off any mattress in the store! To be honest, I don't like doing business that way so I ended up leaving. Macy's seemed to be the best price up front so I think I will be going back there to focus in and hopefully buy something.

Stores that carry the same brand, they are given different names with 1 slight different feature. I don't like Sleepy's are any retail store that only does bedding. As an above poster said, they start the pirce up high, then when you walk out the door (like a car dealership), they drop the price.

We brought from Costco...

We bought ours at Sleepy's. We literally went there and just laid on all the mattresses until we found one we loved. Chat Icon

Re: So Confused...need mattress help!

I love 1800 mattres

We strayed from them once and bought from Costco. As much as I love that place, I don't think they should be in the mattress business.

I would only use 1800 mattres from now on.
