my birth story...
Hi ladies!! thought I would share my birth story now that DD is asleep for a little bit.
Brianna Jade was born 7-17-07 at 7:21 a.m. weighing 8 lbs. 14 oz.
so.... about a week before my due date wich was July 18th the Dr. said the baby was measuring big and would prob be around 9lbs. at my due date. She said if I didn't want to go past my due date I could be induced starting on monday night the 16th with cervidil and then pitocin tuesday morning July 17th. I was scared of her size so I agreed to go in monday night if nothing happened before hand. I had been a finger tip dialated since 36 weeks and thought she just was not going to come on her own!
So we get to the hopsital (Stony Brook) at 5 pm. Monday July 16th. I am in a room on the antipartem floor. By the time they take my blood and hook me up to the moniters it's prob around 7pm. They tell me the Dr. will be in soon to check me and that they have to order the cervidal to be brought up so prob be another hour. After an hour I'm still waiting and start to feel some very mild contractions. The nurse comes back in and says the Dr. had an emergancy delivery and it was going to be a little while longer before she would see me. So I wait and wait and wait.....
I'm still feeling slight contractions that are starting to get stronger and I laugh and tell DH that is would be so weird if DD decides to come tonight on her own while I'm sitting here waiting to be seen! Well finally about 10 - 10:30pm. Dr. finally comes in. She checks me first before giving me the cervidil and tells me I'm 4 cm dialated and am having regular contractions!!! She said you do not need the medicine and sent me down to labor and delivery floor saying that the baby should come tonight or tomorrow morning on her own!!
So I finally go to labor and delivery room around 12 a.m. The Dr. comes back inthe room and checks me again and I'm olny 4-5 cm. She tlls me she can break my water to get things moving faster.. so I agree but was starting to get uncomfortable by then so she let me first get the epidural and then came back to break my water. I felt so much better after the epidural!! SO by now it was about 2 am. and I went to sleep for 2 hours untill around 4 a.m. the Dr. came back in the room to check me again and and told me I olny moved to 6 cm. and would be back in a few hours to check me again.
20 minutes after she left the room I started feeling the stongest contracts ever and the WORST pressure! I new something was not right so I wake DH up who was sleeping in a chair and push the button for the nurse to come in. The nurse comes in and I explain the pain and pressure and by this point I am in tears and shaking it was so painful so quick! and he tells me that the Dr. just checked me I'm only 6 cm. and that it's prob just my epidural wearing off!!! and calls in the Dr. to give me another dose. I tell him I really just want to be checked becouse I feel like I have progressed... and tells me that not to worry it's the epidural wearing off and I will feel alot better after another dose. So I give in and say ok to more epidural. 10 minutes later I feel exactly the same and tell him I need the Dr. to check me NOW!!! So the Dr. finally come in and checks me and guess what??? I"M 10 CM and ready to push!!!   I felt like saying I told you!!! but at that point I didn't want to waste my breath and energy! So I get about 3 good pushes and then guess what?! The epidural is kicking in and I can't feel anything to push anymore!!! This was around 5am. and I had to wait until about 7am for the epidural to were off and I could push again!!! So finally at 7:21 am. my DD Brianna Jade was born and all of that really didn't matter any more.... she was healthy and I was not in pain anymore....
They are truely a miricle when they are born and we are so in love with her!
