new to this side, and SO many questions!
Hey Ladies. I got my BFP a few days ago. I hope you don't mind... now that the initial shock of the BFP is wearing off a little, I have a bunch of questions...
I will have my first doctor's appointment at about 6 weeks. Is this about when you had yours? What usually happens at the first appointment? What questions did you ask? Since I am considering a natural birth (although I really barely know anything about this and really have to do some more research), should I mention this at the first appt.?
If you are considering a natural birth, or if you've decided on that, how did you come to that decision? Are there any really good resources I could read, etc?
How many sonograms are typical during a pregnancy? Are any of you ladies not particularly a fan of having lots of sonograms?
Can we BD?
When is it typical to start showing?
TIA!!!

Re: new to this side, and SO many questions!
Congrats! That's a lot of questions. First, do as much research as you can.
I had my first appt around this time. The dr usually just tests your urine, takes blood to confirm the hcg levels, does a pap if you haven't had one recently & maybe asks a couple of questions (family hist, etc). Depending on the office, you might get a sono or & presciption to get one done.
You can mention anything you want. It's a little early to think about the delivery but people who choose natural birth usually learn diff breathing & relaxation techniques to cope with the pain. You have time for that. And remeber, things don't always happen as planned to you should also learn a little about c-sections.
Check with your ins about how many sonos they cover. If it's a high-risk or other med need, it shouldn't be a problem to have them covered. Most ins co cover 2-3 sonos.
Hope that helps. Don't be afraid to ask questioons

Congratulations!! I think every Dr office is different of when they see you. Sometimes they do a few blood tests then you have your first OB appt. At that appt you will probably have an internal, possibly a sono, and a slip to have a ton of bloodwork done. The amount of sono's also depends on dr's and insurance coverage. With my dr they do 3 unless something is up. BD is good as long as you arent having any spotting. Every woman is different regarding when they show. You will probably bloat up very soon and feel fat, but not look pregnant.

CONGRATS!!!
I had my 1st appt around 4-5 weeks, only b/c they took me right away. They took blood to confirm the BFP and prescriptions for folic acid & prenatals. I think I just went over what I can and cannot eat, what type of exercise I can do, and that was probably it. You can mention that natural birth thing...no harm in that. I am not considering that...I need an EPI!
I've had a lot of sonos...one every time I go, but every Dr. is different w/this and it also depends on how many sonos your insurance will cover. My Dr. is a family friend so he just does one every time I think as a favor.
You can BD as long as your Dr. doesn't say otherwise!
I started showing at around 15 weeks I think, but no one noticed until about 16-17 weeks. Here is a link to my belly pics: Belly pics Good luck and HTH!!!!
