Does anyone have NO WEEDS whatsoever?

I've heard it before that weeding is just a fact of life, and there is absolutely no foolproof method to prevent them from growing. Unless you pave over your lawn, or intentionally kill it with chemicals or boiling water.

Is it possible that we all dump fabric and mulch and chemicals on their lawns to reach a goal that is just simply unattainable?

Are we all fooling ourselves?

I do the best I can with a thick layer of mulch which is cleaned, aerated, and reapplied every year. But I still have to weed once a week, and I'm at peace with that.

If there is no one out there who has a 100% effective "cure", maybe we need to change our expectations and just accept it.

Sorry - my DH is a landscaper and even he can't get rid of our weeds They disappear for awhile but they always come back!!!!!

Same here...they always come back. My DH is insane about landscaping and we even have Scott's lawn service and still get them

I spent countless hours last year setting up my planting beds from scratch. Down to bare dirt and do it all. My planting beds are really bad this year, infected with weeds (the kind that have the deepest/hardest roots to get rid of). It did not help that I have not been able to landscape due to pregnancy either!

I actually do not use any chemicals on my lawn because of my dogs. I have to find a "green"/safe alternative. Until then, yes... I will have weeds in my lawn.

i am ok with weeds, i maintain them by hand weeding in some areas & others like my lawn they live happily.
There are super toxic chemicals that work, but I refuse to use them.

Like Kelly, the weeds in the lawn don't bother me. If you cut the grass high it help prevent weeds from growing so we have our mower at the highest setting right now. This is the first year our lawn has very little crabgrass out front so it must be working.
Our backyard is a mix of weeds, clover and grass - but it's green which is a big improvement over when we bought.

The garden and beds I handweed and cultivate. I use the grass clippings for mulch and it seems to work well. And this year we have started a compost pile so next year I'll be able to use that also.

ETA: I won't use any chemicals and besides my ex was a landscaper and no matter how many chemicals he used the weeds would appear.
