what a racket! First to schedule this appointment to get them to come was like pulling teeth. Then the guy comes and looks at my washing machine for five minutes and says that the hose needs to be replaced and for 5 dollars my husband can do it himself. Total charge, $71.00! Ridiculous! The homeownership thing is annoying! Vent over.

did you buy the warranty? If something happens to the washing machine again you won't have to pay for the visit next time.
I did this on a very old washing machine I had, it was wonderful. They tech came out 3 times and I only paid $71 for him to fix it 3 times.
It depends on how old your appliance is.
I covered my fridge because I had 3 occasions where it didn't work right. It cost $150 for 3 years. I thought it was worth it.
I do agree that it's a racket for a $5 hose!!!

No warranty b/c I think its very old and likely we will replace it before we would have to fix it again. I made do that with my fridge and my dishwasher though b/c they are new.
